Parkinson's Support Group

Tuesday, June 25, 2024 | 4:30-5:30 PM | JCC of Greater New Haven, 360 Amity Road, Woodbridge, CT

Physical Exercise Affecting on Cognition and Emotion (PEACE) and Therapeutic Dance Improving Cognition and Emotion (TDICE) are two community based social services and research programs leaded by Dr. Luke Kun Liu from Yale School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry.

Dr. Kun Liu is a pioneer in the sports-neuroscience field, focusing on how the brain controls physical movements and how physical exercise affects brain functions. The PEACE and TDICE programs utilize three essential principles—neuroplasticity, neurotrophic factors, and Physical-Cognition Correlations—to design performance training courses aimed at improving cognition and emotion in patients with cognitive dysfunction.

This lecture on PEACE/TDICE for Parkinson’s Support at the JCC will provide insights into the scientific principles and practical physical exercises, such as dance and fencing, that can enhance cognition and emotion in patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) as well as in healthy adults.

Open discussion after lecture.

Caregivers are always welcome to attend.
