Featured Speaker: Daphne Geismar, author of Invisible Years, an intimate portrait of an extended Jewish family in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands, who, when faced with imminent deportation, refused to comply.
Daphne Geismar plans, designs, and produces books on art and history for museums and publishers including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and Yale University Press. Her designs have won numerous awards. For her MFA in graphic design at Yale, Geismar’s thesis revealed new findings about Direction magazine—an anti-fascism periodical run by artists and writers at the outset of World War II.
She has been a visiting professor in design at various universities and she collaborates with high school teachers to create lesson plans on Holocaust history based on Invisible Years.
